Galway County Champions 2018

On 14 June, the Newcastle team and all of 6th class got on the bus to go to Loughgeorge.

We were playing Capataggle. We started the game well and scored the first point of the game and after that, everything went our way as we increased the lead with a few more goals and points. After a while Capataggle came back into the game and scored a few frees, then came half time. We were playing with the wind in the second half and we increased  our lead even more. Everyone was playing 100% and Capataggle only scored one goal. After a while, our goalkeeper got injured and so did one of our outfield players. This shook the team a bit but the subs that came on did brilliantly. We won the game well in the end and everybody was delighted when we lifted the cup!

Thanks to Mr O'Connor and Mr Hickey or teaching us well and also to all the teachers in Newcastle who helped and supported us through the years.

Rounders

Well done to the boys and girls of Newcastle who represented Galway in the Connacht rounders fun Blitz organised by Cumann na mBunscoil in Bekan last week. It was great to play against teams from othercounties and we look forward to teaching the rest of the pupils in school all the rules and skills involved in rounders.
